![]() The cable used for the row runs underneath a number of pulleys used for other purposes. The bottom rowing cable is the big weak spot on the BD-61. The higher attachment point on the lat pull down cable is perfect though. The reason being that the two front pulleys just don't go high enough to get a full range of motion. ![]() For these exercises, I would recommend using the middle cable normally used for the lat pull down. It's lacking that feel of a solid gym machine cable fly but it still works well. Just make sure you have a bench that will hold you down as the weight gets heavier.Ĭhest fly. The movement is smooth and resistance is consistent with a fair amount of weight loaded. For me, I find this to be the exercise this equipment performs best at. The short height could be a selling point if you're trying to fit it into a low ceiling like a basement. I would not recommend for anyone much over 6'0". The top is low which means the pull up bar is low and the adjustable front cables are low. Depending on your strength or whether you're working a smaller muscle, this could be problematic.Ĭonsider the height of this equipment in relation to your height. Using just the carriage or 2.5, 5 lb plates doesn't cut it. That seems to be at least 2 x 10 lb plates. You need a minimum amount of weight pulling down on the carriage holding the plates to create effective resistance especially on the negative part of a movement. This isn't your gym grade pulley and cable system. Silicone lubricant along the rods was effective and it glides more smoothly now. ![]() ![]() I had a few small issues after assembling mine mostly with the carriage that holds the plates riding smoothly along the rods. The youtube video showing that part of the installation is helpful but I wish it had audio to call out part numbers. And there's the real selling point: it's cheap.Īs other reviews point out, the installation instructions are terrible when it comes to threading the cables and pulleys. It does a lot of things well for a multi exercise cable system under $1,000. If you purchase the BD-61 with a full awareness of what you're getting into, you (probably) won't be disappointed. ![]()
